General Facility Description
Outdoors – Trialing outdoors in Michigan can be very refreshing, but it can also be very hot and none of the rings are covered. Some outdoor locations have indoor, air-conditioned buildings for crating space. Ez-ups and large umbrellas are common. Most have some shade around the rings. Footing is usually grass.
Indoors – Most indoor trial facilities are air-conditioned – those that are not air-conditioned do not generally run trials during the hot summer months of June through August. The floor types include turf, matting, or dirt, depending on the facility.
Best of Michigan: Our choice, based on all locations visited, is TNT in Midland
Venues: AKC, CPE, USDAA, UKC, UKI, NADAC
Fun Places for You and Your Canine
Swim – With so many inland lakes, and two Great Lakes surrounding the state, swimming with your dog is very popular. In West Michigan, check out the Friends of Muskegon Dog Beach with over 1 mile of canine fun along the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. Toggle the map options above to find more dog beaches throughout the state.
Hike – There is also a free land use area in Jenison MI (near Grand Rapids) where one can legally let their dog run off-leash. There’s a beautiful swimming area for dogs there too. Many other trails and parks also welcome responsible pet owners and their dogs.
Music – There are numerous outdoor concerts in local parks during the summer, many of them that welcome dogs.
See each location page’s “Nearby” tab for specific activities in that area.
